Greyhound Illuminating Paraffin (IP) is a high-quality petroleum-based heating and lighting fuel formulated for clean, efficient combustion across a wide range of domestic, commercial, agricultural, and industrial applications. Manufactured from high-quality refinery-grade paraffin streams, similar to premium illuminating paraffin fuels used throughout Southern Africa, it delivers reliable combustion performance with low smoke, low odour, and minimal residue formation. Also commonly referred to as kerosene or heating oil, Greyhound™ Illuminating Paraffin is a highly refined light/middle distillate fuel designed to burn with a steady, bright, smokeless flame while minimising wick charring and carbon build-up. Its low sulphur content assists in reducing bloom formation on lamp glass, helping maintain cleaner illumination surfaces and improved lighting efficiency during operation.
The product is widely used in wick-feed and pressure lamps, paraffin stoves, portable heaters, refrigerators, and heating systems requiring a clean-burning paraffin fuel. In industrial and agricultural environments, Greyhound™ Illuminating Paraffin is also suitable for grain drying, process air heating, heating liquids in tanks, and general-purpose heating applications where consistent combustion performance is required. Due to its refined composition and solvent characteristics, IP may additionally be used in selected cleaning, thinning, degreasing, paint, varnish, polish, insecticide, and weed-control applications where paraffin-type solvents are specified.
