Brake cleaner is a fast-evaporating solvent spray that removes brake dust, oil, grease and contamination from brake and clutch components without leaving a residue behind.
It is the standard product for cleaning discs, calipers, drums and backing plates during a brake job, and it is also widely used for degreasing other parts where a completely clean, dry surface is needed before assembly or bonding.
Handling matters. Use it in ventilated space, never on hot discs or near a running engine, and keep it well away from ignition sources including welding and grinding. Some formulations attack rubber, plastics and painted surfaces, so keep it off seals, boots and paintwork or test first. New discs and pads should be cleaned of protective coating before fitting, which is exactly what brake cleaner is for.
