The important thing is staple compatibility. Guns take specific staple types and leg lengths, and the ranges quoted on the tool tell you what will actually feed and fire reliably. Leg length is chosen for the material thickness: long enough to hold properly, short enough not to punch through the back. Hold the gun flat and firm against the surface so the staple seats fully, keep hands clear of the nose, and never point it at anyone. Clear a jam only with the tool unloaded.
