A cabin filter (also called a pollen or aircon filter) cleans the air coming through your car’s vents, trapping dust, pollen, soot and road grime before it reaches you and your passengers. Most manufacturers recommend replacing it around every 15 000 km, and more often if you drive gravel roads or sit in heavy city traffic.

Signs yours is due for replacement: weak airflow from the vents even on high fan, a musty or damp smell when you switch on the aircon, or windows that take a long time to demist.
