Injector cleaners are the ones worth using regularly. Modern petrol injectors run fine spray patterns at high pressure, and even light deposit build-up distorts that spray, which shows up as rough idle, hesitation, poor economy and higher emissions long before it triggers a warning light. A cleaner run through every few services keeps the pattern where it should be.

Be realistic about what an additive can do. It will clean deposits and keep a healthy system healthy, but it will not fix a failed injector, a coil pack or a mechanical fault. Add treatments to a nearly empty tank before filling so they mix properly.
