20W50 engine oil sachet: the high-mileage grade, one top-up at a time
This 20W50 engine oil sachet is 500ml of Greyhound G-Power 20W50 in a sealed foil pouch. 20W50 is the grade South Africa reaches for when an engine has done its kilometres: the heavier film quietens worn bearings, slows oil consumption and holds up in Lowveld and Northern Cape heat where a thinner oil thins out further.
Who buys the sachet
- Owners of older Toyota, Nissan, VW and Ford petrol engines with 200,000km or more on the clock.
- Minibus taxi operators who top up daily and want one sachet per top-up rather than an open 5L in a hot cab.
- Forecourts, spaza shops and hardware counters that sell single top-ups.
- Classic car and bakkie owners whose handbooks specify a 20W-50.
Why 20W50 for a tired engine
As clearances grow, a 10W-40 or 5W-30 slips past rings and valve guides more easily, so the engine smokes and drinks oil. The 50 grade at operating temperature holds a thicker film across those gaps. The 20W cold rating is fine for South African mornings; it is not a winter oil for sub-zero climates and was never meant to be.

How to use it
With the engine off and on level ground, check the dipstick. Tear, pour, wait a minute, check again. Most passenger sumps go from the low mark to the middle with one sachet. Keep a couple in the cubby hole; the pouch does not leak or roll around the way a bottle does.
Bigger packs and the rest of the range
For a full oil change buy G-Power 20W50 in 500ml, 1L, 5L and 20L. If the engine is a newer diesel, the 15W-40 CI4 is the better choice. Greyhound Lubricants are blended to API and OEM specifications and delivered nationwide across South Africa from Isando.
