Heat Transfer 32 is a mineral heat transfer oil for closed, forced-circulation thermal fluid systems, rated to a maximum bulk temperature of 280°C and chosen for thermal stability and low volatility rather than viscosity alone. It circulates heat into jacketed vessels, platen presses, dryers and process heaters, where the fluid runs hot continuously and any tendency to crack or oxidise turns into sludge and carbon on the heater tubes. Sample and test the fluid periodically (acid number, viscosity, flash point), keep the expansion tank sealed or nitrogen-blanketed so hot oil never meets air, and do not mix mineral and synthetic fluids when topping up.
