The blade matters more than the saw. Tooth pitch is chosen for the material and its thickness: coarse teeth clear waste quickly in timber, while fine teeth are needed for metal and thin sections so that at least two or three teeth are always in contact with the cut. Too coarse a blade on thin steel will snag and strip teeth almost immediately.
Let the saw run at its own pace instead of forcing it, keep the blade cutting on the stroke it is designed for, and use cutting fluid on metal to extend blade life and give a cleaner edge. Replace blades once they stop cutting freely.
