The Brembo P28089 rear brake pads are the Brembo Prime Line rear pad set for the Honda Civic Type R FL5 (2023 onwards) and FK8 (2017 to 2021). One box, four pads, both rear wheels, with the acoustic wear tab.

The FL5 and FK8 share the same Brembo four-piston front caliper and 350 mm front discs and the same rear caliper, so one set covers both generations. Not for the Civic Type R FK2 (2015 to 2016), the Civic Si, the Civic 1.5 Turbo or the standard Civic FL1, which use different calipers. Not sure? Send us your VIN and we confirm before dispatch.
Why Brembo Prime on a Type R
Your Civic Type R left the factory with Brembo calipers and Brembo discs, which is why the caliper says Brembo. The pad that comes in the Honda box is Honda-labelled; Brembo Prime is Brembo’s own aftermarket road pad for that caliper, built to the OE specification: strong cold bite for the daily commute, a stable pedal when the discs are hot after a run through the passes, low noise and far less of the dust the original pads are known for. Anti-squeal shims are fitted and the acoustic wear tab warns you before the backing plate touches the disc.
Brembo Prime is a road pad, not a track pad. For a dedicated track day set ask us about the options; for everything else, including the odd spirited drive, this is the pad most FK8 and FL5 owners in South Africa fit when the originals are done, at a fraction of the dealer price.

Fitting and bedding in
Check the discs for a lip and scoring before fitting; a worn disc eats a new pad in weeks. Clean the caliper and pad abutments, use a smear of brake grease on the backing plate contact points only, and torque the caliper bolts to spec (the front Brembo caliper uses pad pins and a retaining spring, no slide pins). Bed in with ten gentle stops from 60 km/h, no hard braking or Plus R mode for the first 200 km. Pedal feel sharpens as the pads seat.
