Continental 6PK1185 fan belt: 6-rib multi-rib belt, 1185 mm (premium)

The Continental 6PK1185 is a 6-rib multi-rib drive belt (also called a fan belt, V-ribbed or serpentine belt), 1185 mm long. It drives the engine auxiliaries. For example, it turns the alternator, the power steering pump and the air conditioning compressor, depending on the engine. Listed fitment includes the VW Amarok, Peugeot 806, 307, 807, 307 CC & Citroën C4.

The German Continental group makes ContiTech belts. Also, many European and Asian manufacturers fit them as original equipment.

How to check your belt size

First, look at the back of your old belt: you will find the size printed there. For example, in 6PK1185, 6 is the number of ribs, PK is the rib profile and 1185 is the length in millimetres. However, sizes a few millimetres apart (such as 6PK1185 and 6PK1190) are different belts. So match the number exactly, or ask us.

Fitting tips

Replace the belt at the interval in your service book. Also replace it sooner if it is cracked, glazed, missing ribs or squeals on start-up. At the same time, check the tensioner and idler pulleys, because a worn tensioner bearing wears out a new belt quickly. Before you remove the old belt, photograph the routing. Finally, make sure every rib sits in its pulley groove before you start the engine.
