G254 12V 5W LED Festoon Bulb | Bright, Cool-Running Interior Light
The G254 LED Festoon Bulb is the LED replacement for the standard 12V 5W festoon lamp. It fits the same SV8.5 double-ended holder and gives a brighter, whiter light while drawing a fraction of the current and running much cooler than the glass bulb it replaces. Ideal for interior dome lights, map lights, boot lights and number plate lights. Sold in South Africa under the Lumin brand as the G254LED.
Replaces: C5W 12V 5W Festoon Bulb (SV8.5), 254 festoon, 40mm length
Features:
- 12V LED: direct replacement for the 5W incandescent festoon, same holder, no wiring changes.

Fitting the G254 LED festoon bulb:
- LED festoons are polarity sensitive. If it does not light up, take it out, turn it around and refit it.
- On some newer vehicles with bulb monitoring, an LED may show a bulb-out warning. Standard interior and number plate circuits are normally fine.
Why switch to a G254 LED festoon bulb?
A standard 5W festoon turns most of its energy into heat, which is why older dome light lenses go brittle and yellow over time. The G254 LED festoon bulb fits the same holder but draws a fraction of the power, so leaving a door or boot open for a while is far less likely to flatten the battery. It also copes better with vibration than a filament bulb, which makes it a good choice for bakkies, trucks and off-road vehicles.
