Industrial Gear Oil 46: the light EP grade for fast enclosed gearboxes

Greyhound Industrial Gear Oil 46 (IGO 46) is the thinnest grade in the Greyhound industrial gear oil range, an ISO VG 46 mineral oil with the same extreme-pressure CLP additive pack as the 68 to 680 grades. It is the oil for enclosed gear units that spin fast and carry moderate load, where a heavier grade would run hot and waste power churning.

Where IGO 46 is the right choice

• High-speed spur, helical and bevel reducers and geared motors on conveyors, packaging and printing lines
• Machine tool gearboxes, headstocks and feed drives
• Gear pumps and small enclosed drives on textile and food plant
• Circulating systems that feed gears and plain bearings from one tank

If the gearbox is slow, hot and heavily loaded, use Industrial Gear Oil 68 or 100 instead. Always match the ISO grade on the gearbox nameplate.

Pack sizes

1 litre for geared motors and top-ups, 5 litres for small reducers, 20 litres for workshop oil changes and circulating system make-up. Bulk 210 litre drums are supplied through Greyhound Lubricants.
