Lithium grease is the general-purpose choice for bearings, chassis points, hinges, linkages and most everyday automotive and workshop lubrication.

Its lithium soap thickener gives good mechanical stability under vibration, useful water resistance and a temperature range that covers the great majority of vehicle applications. NLGI grade 2 is the standard consistency for wheel bearings and general greasing, and EP versions carry extreme-pressure additives for the shock loading found on trailers, agricultural implements and heavy plant.

Supplied in cartridges for grease guns, tubs and larger bulk containers.

Two things worth knowing: pack bearings properly by working grease right through the rollers rather than just smearing the outside, and avoid mixing lithium with incompatible thickeners such as calcium sulphonate or clay-based greases, since the mixture can soften and run out of the bearing.
